Random Rainbow :-)

WHOA!! When I saw this sketch challenge designed by N@ Ali on retro sketches #16, I knew I had to give it a try! I thought about it for 3 days and tried to some up with something unique but I loved the first sample by N@Ali with the rainbow of colors and was completely drawn to it. Here is the sketch and my card...

I love doing this watercolor background and I thought it would work well with this card. I know it looks like I just randomly added elements to this card but I really did try to put some thought into placing them! :) To stamp the sentiment I used the baby wipe technique and made my own rainbow stamp pad. This was such a fun challenge and really made me think outside my box! :) I was thinking about who I was going to give this to....And I think I am giving it to MYSELF!! (It would be too expensive to mail anyway!! LOL! )

Faux Patina

One of my most favorite things about stamping is learning new techniques and showing others how to do them too! I saw this tutorial on Faux Patina on the Splitcoast Stampers resources. While there are several steps to this technique it is fairly easy to do. The Cardstock is transformed before your eyes. I love using the Gold Embossing Powder as highlights. This adds some richness to the project.
I also added a tree from Lovely as a Tree stamp set with the emboss resist technique. This is one of the cards we will be doing at an upcoming stamp camp. Feel free to contact me if you would like to come! :)
Here is the link for the Faux Patina Tutorial.
I also decided to show you a picture frame I decorated using the same technique. I also added some paper flowers as well as quote stamp from Pursuit of Happiness. I attached tthe flowers using a glue gun.

Dynamic Duo Birthday

I decided to add another post today. I made this card for my wonderful friend Patty! She is vibrant and full of life and a lot of fun to be around! We have been friends for a long time and I look forward to what crazy things we get into in the future! I decided to use the Dynamic Duo color challenge to design a fun birthday card for her.
She LOVES embossing so I embossing all the stamped images on this card. For the sentiment I used Melon Mambo and Black Embossing powder. I stamped in VersaMark then added the black to the areas I wanted. Then I covered the rest with the Melon Mambo being sure not to then mix the colors in the containers. :)  I set it with the heat gun and this was the result. The flourishes were from Everything Eleanor which were embossed too. I used the new Finishing Edgelits for the first time and LOVED the femininity it adds to the card. Of course I added some "bling" for my friend!

Everything Eleanor

This is my first time using this wonderful new stamp set called "Everything Eleanor." At first I wasn't sure how I would use it but once I started laying the images out I realized how wonderful this stamp set is for layering. I designed this for the Create with Connie and Mary Challenge  #206 Color Challenge
I love the way that there is really no wrong place for the images. The swirls give this a bit of a whimsical feeling as well as "fancy." I added the pearls, seam binding, and of course some color spritzer for some last little touches. Thanks for stopping!
Have a great day!!

Blue Ribbon Dad

Tomorrow is Father's Day so I decided to make a card for my husband with the ColorQ Challenge #141 this week. Here is the card...

The first time I saw this new set, "Blue Ribbon," in the new Stampin' Up Catalog I knew I had to have it!! I love all the different stamps and I am sure this will be one that you will see me use often. The "DAD" was created by using the "GRAD" stamp in this set. I used my Stampin' Write marker and colored and stamped the "D". I then used the Stamp-a-ma-jig to stamp the "AD." It worked great! I also used the "1" stamp for the background and stamped off the color 1-2 times depending on what color I was using. I used the Linen thread to add a little more texture as well as the new Chevron Impressions folder. The sentiment is from Teeny Tiny Wishes.

Happy 40th Birthday!

One of my most wonderful friends had turned 40 this week! She is an absolute delight and she makes me laugh ALL THE TIME! At 40 years old, she is in the best shape of her life and preparing for her first Chicago Marathon! I am so proud of you Janell Fuller!!!
Here is a special card I made for this special lady on her special day!!
There are a lot of "firsts" for me on this card. The dimensions of this card is 6x6...that is a first. I usually only create cards that I can easily mail. I am going to be handing it to her so this gave me more flexibility in creating.

I also don't do a lot to decorate the inside of my cards but this was screaming , "Circle Circus!" That is one of my favorite stamp sets to use. I punched out some circles to add some more pizazz. I used the 2 1/2 inch circle punch to for the base of the spring. I then cut in a rotary method to form a spring for the "40" to be glued to. I used the Big Shot Adhesive sheets over Pacific Point card stock then cut out the numbers.(non SU) I peeled back the layer of adhesive sheet to reveal the sticky portion and added retired glitter.
 Here is a close up...
This is a first for me to try a 3D effect on the inside of a card and I loved the way it turned out!

Bright Blossoms

Here is a simple card that I designed for our last card camp. I decided to use the Summer Smooches DSP for the first time and I just love it! Here is the card...

I was to be sure to curl the banners at the bottom so they are not attached to the Whisper White card stock. It is hard to see but I scored around the edges as well. I used the Friendly Phrases stamp set for the sentiment. This is a very simple card but so much fun to make!

Berry Blossom Gratitude

I haven't been able to post much lately. Things have been a bit crazy around here. BUT...I am back today with a card that I designed for the Create with Connie and Mary Color Challenge. I also used the Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge (MOJO244) which is a first for me! Here is the card...

I tend to be a "paper hoarder" and do not use my DSP like I should. So I finally decided to use this newly retired Berry Blossom DSP. When looking at the DSP, I decided to copy one of the flowers and make it a focal image on the card. I wanted more texture on the Calypso Coral flower so I cut the petals and loved this look. Although this DSP is retired I am so happy to have these colors for another year!
Thanks for stopping!
