Something Elegant

I have a really bad habit of buying DSP and not using it...REALLY BAD HABIT!! I have stacks of retired DSP that I haven't touched! ugh! I want to change that this year and start using more DSP for my cards and projects. I saw the sketch at Paper Pals Arts #189 and thought it would be a great way for me to try using some of my much beloved DSP!

This is the first time I have used the Chalk Talk Framelits and Stamp set. This is something very different  from what I usually use and I am excited to see what else I can create. I added a few simple details to add to the "Elegance" of the DSP. I didn't have any Crushed Curry ribbon so I dyed some Whisper White Ribbon. I love how with Stampin' Up! I always have the perfect color to use!
Now that I have cut into this beautiful DSP, I can't wait to see what else I can use it for!
Thanks for taking a peek!

Love is the in Air!

I guess I have been really drawn to making cards with hearts lately. It has to be because Valentines Day is just around the corner! I decided to play along with the sketch at Just Add Ink this week.

I used a mix of goodies on this card. The DSP is retired from last year. I used the Chevron stamp from one of the Paper Pumpkins on the Pool Party heart and of course a little bling. When I made this card I had a particular friend in mind...I call her my "Forever Friend." We met at orientation in college and she has been such a wonderful friend to me ever since! She works in the same building as I do and you would this we see each other often but we don't. I can't wait to drop this card off to her one day as a reminder of the great friend she has been to me!!

New Goodies!

I took sometime today and decided to play with some of my new supplies I recently ordered from Stampin' Up! I am excited about Sale-a-bration beginning soon and I am in LOVE with the new Banner set and Banner punch. I decided to use the color combo from Dynamic Duos #87 and the sketch from Seize the Sketch #12.

I decided to use the Melon Mambo as an accent color and use Black as well as other neutral. This helped the Melon Mambo to Pop a bit more. I realized after I was finished that I had layered the banners possibly a bit too much but I loved all the different patterns on the banners. I know I will be using this set a lot more! Here is a peek at the inside too...

Livin' the Life!

I have had a lot of fun with the Freshly Made Sketches Challenge #119 this week! It has taken me a few days to complete this card. I had actually started with another design and it was not working out. When I saw FMS, I knew I could make it work! This card is for my friend who has started the Disney College Program and I am so excited to be sending her some Disney themed cards.

I decided to flip the sketch and I also decided to try the Undefined Kit for the first time. This is a kit sold by Stampin' Up that allows to you design and carve your own stamp. I made a Spiral design. I used it to stamp a background where the Minnie head was placed. I also added it to the black and white banner as some contrast. This was a lot of fun and very forgiving. I liked the fact that this stamp wasn't PERFECT but perfect for ME!
I wanted to add a little pizazz to the sentiment so I colored the sentiment with my Stampin' Write Markers. I love how well this works. I used some circle punches for the Minnie head and hand cut the bow.

If you haven't tried the Undefined Kit yet, I suggest you give it a whirl! It opened up a whole new world for me!!

Living the "Magical" Life!

A wonderful friend of mine, Anna, has began her journey this week in the Disney College Program! She will be working for Disney this semester for a paid internship and is upper excited!! She has found out she will be working at CHEF MICKEY'S!! This is our most favorite restaurant to visit when we go to Disney World! I decided to make Anna a very special Disney card with some of my new goodies from Stampin' Up! and I am so excited to show you!! I also decided to join the SUO Challenge #88 and the retrosketches challenge#97 this week too!

Of course I wanted to use a Disney theme but I wanted that to be subtle. I used the new Word Bubble framelits and Just Sayin' stampset! I just love these!! I can see these will be something I use very often! I added a little Minnie Mouse head with a couple of circle punches. Very quick and easy to do!
I decided to add a little to the inside of the card but I didn't want to do too much. I just loved the classic, clean look this card ended up with.

I am so excited for her to get this card in the mail!! I am going to be making her several Disney themed cards so you may be seeing more of these in the future! :)

I {Heart} Birthdays!

Well, It has been a while since I have posted again. After some encouragement today from my Upline, Shana Gaff, I thought I would set aside some time to blog. I saw a couple of great challenges that I thought I would enter; one was the Friday Mashup #142 and the other was Freshly Made Sketches #118.
For the Friday Mashup we were to use twine and /or make a Birthday Card. Holly mentioned that this is her birthday month and it is mine too! I thought it would be fun to make my own birthday card! I loved the sketch from Jen M and Freshly Made Sketches and thought it would be perfect!

It has been a while since I have taken the time to make a card. I thought I would try to use some supplies that I hadn't used yet. I don't usually use hearts on cards but today I went on a heart overload. I used the scalloped heart from the Heart a Flutter Framelits with one of the hearts from the Heart Collection to make the Basic Gray Heart. I used the Gorgeous Grunge stamp as a little color for the background but still leaving a little white space drawing my eye to the hearts.

I love to add the simple little details to make this card special and unique. I hope you have enjoyed my little journey back into stamping and I am hoping to not be away so long the next time.
Thanks for stopping!!
