Fun with Markers

At the Addicted to Stamps and More Challenge we are to use Markers! I love the SU! markers because you can do so much more than color images. Actually on the care I made for this challenge I did everything BUT color an image. Take a look...
I used some doodling to create a fun festive border for this card. It reminds me a bit like streamers. I also used my Color Spritzer tool that uses a SU! Marker to give a little splatter to the background. Eventhough this is retired I still use the Color Spritzer tool ALOT! I used a Uniball white pen to create faux stitching on the Coastal Caribbean Banner. I also used the SU! Markers to color directly on the stamps for the sentiment and candles. I love the versatility of these markers!

Happy Valentines Day!!

The first is a card I made today isfor the CAS(E) this Sketch, Color Throwdown and Technique Time Tuesday Challenges. I had a lot of fun combining all of these challenges and they were a great inspiration for this card I made for a wonderful friend of mine, Patty. She is always giving me encouragement in many different areas of my life and is a great cheerleader for me! ....Just the kind of friend everyone should have!

At Technique Time Tuesday the challenge is to use the Shaving Cream Technique on your projects. I decided to use it for my focal point image. The "U" is from my stash and is not SU! but I thought this was a perfect place for it. The little banners are Washi Tape and I added a few candy dots to continue the Valentine theme. This card was very simple and lots of fun to create!
On a side note... I have used this technique before on cards but last Easter we also used this technique to color Easter Eggs with my kids. Yes it was messy but they LOVED it!! We dipped the eggs in vinegar prior to placing them in shaving cream and they made the perfect Tie Dyed look.
Here are some pictures of the process.

CAS(e) this Sketch #63

Here is a card to play along with the CAS(e) this Sketch Challenge#63. This is such a great simple sketch but I decided to try something a bit different for me.

I decided to use the negative space created when I used the Framelits. By layering some scalloped circles I was able to create a fun focal image. The sentiment is from the new Just Sayin' stamp set.

Happy Birthday Grandma Great!

Back in January I had made my grandma a Birthday card and realized I had not shared it on my blog yet! As any grandma she loves flowers and also loves anything I create for her! She is such a special lady!! I thought I would share it with the Anything Goes challenge at Addicted to Stamps and More and Seize the Birthday with Chevrons for toppings!

I loved used the Epic Day DSP and making something "girly" from it. Of course  it needed some Pearls and Ribbon...just what every Grandma loves!
I also wanted to share with you what my grandma made for me for my Birthday. (Our Birthday are only 3 days apart.) Here is a picture of her creation...

Attached to this was a note that was typed on a TYPEWRITER and it read,
"Now don't get excited and don't get misled, this is not for you but your dishes instead.
So untie all the bows, and take out all the stitches; Now you have two dish clothes but you just
LOST YOUR BRITCHES!!!"
She is HILARIOUS and I love her soo much!! She was surprised when I told her that I was going to keep my gift just as she gave it to me. She expected me to use those dish clothes!!

Subtle Sympathy

When I saw the challenge at Dynamic Duos this week I knew I had to join in. The colors, Pistachio Pudding and Blushing Bride are colors that I very seldom use. I also use some other SU! products that I hadn't used in a very long time. Here is the card...

This is a very simple card to make. The pearls added to the delicate nature of the card. I didn't have any Blushing Bride ribbon but I added the color to a white ribbon with sponging in on. These are very simple additions to add to a one layer card that make it shine.

Seize the Birthday!

I found a fun new to me challenge to try...Seize the Birthday! The challenge is to use chevrons on a birthday card. I also decided to use the sketch from Freshly Made Sketches too. Here is my card...

I love these colors together! It was so much fun to layer the focal image. I decided to use the swirls from Everthing Eleanor to give it more of a delicate look. Thanks for  looking!

It is your Big Day!

I decided to make a fun "retro" kind of card. I have lots of Washi Tape and I think I have only used it one time!! I have seen several cards with washi tape used in the background and decided to try it myself. I LOVED the color and the Create with Connie and Mary color challenge this week...AND I have Washi Tape to match!! I also used the sketch from Freshly Made Sketches.

I decided to make this look a bit rustic too so I sponged the edges of the Very Vanilla and curled the CS a bit. The stars I covered with Crystal effects and sprinkled a little Dazzling Diamonds on them. I stamped some Gorgeous Grunge and them added my Washi Tape. I also used the WT to make little banners off the side of the tag. I think this could make a great Masculine Birthday card.

Gee Thanks!

I love the new Word Bubbles Framelits! I knew I wanted to used them with the Sketch challenge at Hand Stamped Sentiments. I used the colors from Dynamic Duos Bold and Cheery week too. This was a very simple card with lots of fun little details.

The circles were done with masking and stmping the image inside the circles. I decided to give the word bubble a bit more dimension and added the shadow behind it. I really like the effect that gives. I decided to make a bit of a shadow for the background too. The arrow is from one of the Paper Pumpkins as well as both of the background stamps I used for the circles. I added a little bit of candy dots and bling to finish it off.

Rainbow Swirled Birthday

I have been able to take some time to craft again today and have a fun little card to share. This card is for the SUO Challenge to make a one layer card. I do not make these very often and I actually started with another card but couldn't resist the temptation to add another layer. I used the sketch from Case this sketch also. At the Friday Mashup they challenged us to do some sponging. I thought this would be the perfect technique to use on my one layer card.

I used my Swirl stamp I had made from my Undefined Kit earlier. I was looking for a whimsical background stamp and thought this would be perfect. I masked the area off then heat embossed the images with clear embossing powder . I left the masking on and sponged on the rainbow colors. I also scored along the edge of the sponged area to make the image a bit more defined. I finished it off with Embossing the sentiment as well.

February has arrived!

It is February...FINALLY! Here in Indiana we have a had a long January with the most recorded snow on record for this area. February is a big month in our house and it starts with my husband's birthday..today! Since it is the month of hearts as well I thought I would make him a card to celebrate both! (I won't actually give him the card but I will let him look at it!! LOL!!)
I decided to join a few challenges too! I used the Addicted to Stamps and More Photo Challenge for my inspiration. I liked all the hearts with words on them and the sparkle on the box. A new Challenge I saw is called Fusion. I used the color scheme and the sketch layout with this challenge. The last is Addicted to CAS with the code word: LOVE.

I first started with layering different Heart shaped framelits. I used the negative space and backed it with Basic Black. I then used more framelits to layer smaller heart shapes inside the negative space. I used the Heart Punch for the smaller hearts as well as the Owl Punch for the tiniest hearts. I loved the look of adding some glimmer paper as well as some dazzling details to the smallest hearts. One of the things I love to do is add the littlest details at the end. Sometimes I have a hard time stopping.

I liked how using dimensionals really helped with the layering. This was a fun little card to create! Thanks for stopping by!!

Purple Fusion

I decided to make a card for this weeks CASology challenge. The cue word is purple and purple is not a color I use much at all.

This was a very simple card to make. I decided to leave off the sentiment because I thought I could use this for many different occasions. The Lattice Die is something that I do not use much but I love the soft and delicate look it give to a card. The butterfly I stamped of vellum also to continue with the soft look.

Birthday Bag

This post is a something a little different for me. My son is going to a Birthday Party for a little girl and I picked up a plain red gift bag at the store. When I saw the color challenge at Fab Friday this week I decided to dress up the gift bag just a bit.

Making tags is not something I am confident in doing.  I decided to make this tag the size of a card and decorate both the front and back instead of making a card. It is about 5x7. I love ALL the new banner items from SU! and I think I used every Banner product on this tag!!

Front of Tag
Back of Tag
Brett's friend is turning six years old so I added six candles. The flames I colored with So Saffron and highlighted with Crushed Curry and Daffodil Delight. It is hard to see in the pictures but I also added some Crystal Effects to the flame to give them a bit more dimension. (My kids thought I was a genius! Too Funny!! )
I only had white tissue paper so I decided to stamp some Gorgeous Grunge and little hearts from Hears a Flutter to bring the colors together.

I had so much fun dressing this bag up with my very own tag and tissue paper. It was a very simple thing to do and definitely make the gift a bit more personal.
